Hi, I’m Merissa :)
Hi, I’m Merissa :)
Some time ago, I started a personal project to bridge the gap between fitness and mental health — a connection that’s always felt natural to me yet remains overlooked in most training spaces. Beyond the occasional module or mention, mental health rarely takes center stage, even though the fitness world can often heighten struggles with body image, food, self-esteem, and stigma.
The truth is, fitness and psychology are deeply intertwined. Every fitness journey starts — and often stalls — in the mind. The human body is incredible; the mind, spectacular. When we understand how the two work together, we uncover new strengths, push past old limits, and find the kind of intrinsic motivation that sustains real, lasting change.
This isn’t a business — it’s a passion project built on values that matter. It’s not about standing out or chasing clients, but about staying true to what I believe in and bringing it to life through what I love most: teaching, guiding, and helping others grow. Success isn’t measured by long-term packages or client retention, but by how confident, capable, and independent you become — until, eventually, you don’t need me at all. It’s also about showing others they’re not alone in their journeys or struggles. And when you walk away stronger, more self-reliant, and able to carry what you’ve learned into your own life, I hope you see that you can inspire others to do the same.
As for the name, Club Potato Calisthenics started as something lighthearted and relatable. It’s a little nod to the ordinary, to the people who don’t always feel like athletes or fitness types but still want to move, learn, and grow. It’s casual, unpretentious, and a reminder that you don’t need to be extreme to make progress — just curious enough to start, and consistent enough to keep going.
